Common SEO Misconceptions
First time website owners or those with little knowledge of SEO often have misconceptions about it. It’s not their fault, though. I believe these misconceptions are caused by the misleading marketing strategies of some of the website industries biggest companies. They make it seem so simple. Buy their website services, show up in Google.
Well, there’s more to it than that…
Without a doubt, the most common misconception is clients thinking they’ll show up on the first page of Google, simply by building a search engine friendly website. As wonderful as that would be, that’s not how SEO works. It’s disheartening to build a beautiful new website for a client, then have them ask why they aren’t showing up in Google for a generic search term 3 days later. I want to help change this…
While SEO does directly involve your website, it’s actually a completely separate marketing effort all to itself. You’ll certainly benefit from having a search engine friendly website, but it’s not enough if you want to rank high for certain keywords or phrases.
So, What Should You Do?
You have two options; hire a trustworthy SEO service or do it yourself. Apart from actually finding a trustworthy SEO service that won’t do more harm than good, the biggest problem many face is the cost. SEO services are usually a very expensive, recurring cost. And even If you do spend the money, there’s no guarantee that you’ll achieve your desired results or that someone won’t step up their own SEO efforts and surpass you.
Because I work with a lot of start-ups and small businesses, it’s not in my best interest to offer expensive SEO solutions to my clients. They can’t afford it. And to be honest, I don’t have the time to offer such a time-consuming service.
Instead, I have decided to offer my own affordable guide on SEO that I believe will help those who read it and put it’s practices in place.
